In my opinion, yes. With new discoveries every day there are a million questions to every thought. The more thinking that is done, the more thinking there is.
For every thought, there is another thought eh?
Although it may seem like all of the thoughts have been taken up by famous philosophers and artists and movie producers, directors, actors and your everyday average movie viewer, there are so many more thoughts to be thought. If we all worry about our originality, then what will become of the world?
Just by asking this question, think of all the minds wandering and making strange ideas. There are no ideas that are truely the same, only remotely the same. For every idea has a different thought process to get to that thought. So even if two people seem to have the exact same idea, one of the person could have thought in blue to get there and the other could have thought in red. [Hypothetically of course]
Everyone's thoughts build up in different ways, so even though the main idea seems similar, the road to that idea can lead the idea to be slightly different than other's.
I hope that confused you and made you think as much as it did for me,
Jane Smith
GPTList.com Makes an awesome point. He kinda just proved that you can think of original thoughts and thoughts that have been looked over before. Wow. Our brains are weird.

Any thought that you think of without knowledge of exactly copying someone is an original thought. To you.
It may never be known if someone thought of the same thing as you if it weren't communicated.
But, sure, since people seem to believe that whatever new to humanity is original, then of course there will be original thoughts to come.
Btw, someone already asked this question before. : )

It's amazing how few truly 'original' thoughts there are. But yes, I do believe that original thought is possible. It's just not terribly common.

Why would you care if it is truly original? What's important is that a thought serves to make good causes that benefit you. Once you have benefit, you can share it and make things even better.
The cyclical nature of life and the interconnectedness almost guarantee that it's been here before. If you can't escape, enjoy the ride.

Sure it's possible.
That's where "inspiration" and "inventions" come in.
Haven't you ever written a poem that's never been written, or sung a song that's never been sung? When you make up stuff like this, you're thinking thoughts that have never before been thought.
Just like when someone writes a brilliant script for a movie...all original, on their own. They're having a thought that's obviously never been thought before.
Amazing, eh?

Out of 6 billion people I believe that live on this planet presently plus all the others that have lived before us I kind of doubt it. But it is interesting to think about.
Personally no. If any can come close it would probably be little children.

No. I came up with the band name Vertical Horizon all by myself - no joke. I had never heard that term before, and I thought it was awesome. I tell my friend and he's like, no - there already is a band called that.
I was angry.
But then again, I'm sure no one has ever said these words:
Every night forty four chipmunks round house kick a balloon that is anchored to the ground by a fleese sweater.

Nope :/ We think using words. I'm sure someone has already writen lines, made letters, and said sound bites. Making you have no way to have that thought (concously) without using something someone else has already made up.
ALso it can't be original because it would be a THOUGHT. People have already thought :O Making atleast 1 aspect of it unoriginal.

yes, because as long as someone or something did not influence your thought then it is original. Make up your own word, that is original.

Yes you can have your own ideas..those that others have not stopped by or dwelled upon. Sure! Don't let anyone else tell you differently..we all have our own thoughts and dreams and expectations.
