Technically, Brooklyn has NEVER been a traditional masculine name (not once appearing in the top 1000 for boys since 1880). It's a place. And quite a popular choice for girls, at that.
Likewise, Dakota has only recently begun being used as a given name, and it is pretty equally popular for both genders. Regardless, it is a Native American WORD meaning "friend," though the random capitalization in "DaKota" makes it seem mistaken for "of Kota" in this case (just a heads up!). As such, it is not assigned a gender, unlike Addison (which you already know means "son of Adam," thereby having the gender built right into the literal translation).
I'd stick with some more masculine or unisex options that are a bit less expected (especially since Addison only recently became such a common choice). More along the lines of ...
Harper
Hadley
Finley
Eliot - nice nod to George Eliot, if you're a fan ;)
Ferris
Rowan
Morrigan - I prefer the strictly feminine Morrigan over Morgan (different meanings and origins), but especially here, with the "ddi" in Addison and "rri" in this. Just a funky little connection I'm sure no one else would notice. LOL
Teagan
Fallon
Hope that helps!

I don't Brookelynn or DaKota. But if you are into naming your child after places, I would suggest spelling the name traditionally.
To me, Brookelynn isn't a boys name at all. It's very very feminine. In fact every Brooklyn I've known has been a girl.
I am not really a fan of Addison either. but I'm sure you're baby is adorable!:)

Brookelynn is very cute for a girl and I think Addison is good for a girl. I dont really care for the name dakota (for a boy or a girl) It just sounds redneck to me. I also like the name Taylor for a girl. I also know a girl name Scottlyn. As far as boy names, I like Camden James.

Addison Mckena is a such a cute name. Addison is unisex.
If you like "Brookelynn" I suggest the spelling Brooklyn. I prefer it that way. Paige is such a cute name! Brooklyn is okay but I'd never use it. DaKota is actually kind of cute...I wouldn't use the double capitals, though. Try Dakota Paige. You could call her Koti or Kota as a nickname ;)
Good luck!

don't like the Brookelynn or DaKota thing, but I do like the Addison. Don't worry about what's popular - go with what fits your surname too.
