Hi,I have a laptop and old computer.
I want to upgrade my laptop hard drive(HD) for now.
I want to know is my method safe/ok for upgrading my HD?

I'm currently have 20GB of HD and I want to upgrade it to 100+GB.

So I will buy an external hard drive case(by USB)
eg-

to copy my old HD to the new one.
Then I will replace the old hard drive inside my laptop for the new one.
1-So will my laptop be working again?
2-Is laptop hard drive different from normal computer?
or just the same size?

Ok. Size of HD is just different from a desktop. That is a really small HD on your laptop... You could just go with a larger USB HD and use that for awhile.... You will still need to remember that your operating system will need to be reinstalled on a new HD you would install on your laptop HD if you change it out.....

This is definitely possible. The only problem is that laptop hard drives are much smaller than desk top hard drives due to having to conserve space and weight and give off less heat. You can get an external to copy all your folders, but you would probably have to install the operating system on the new drive, then move the rest of the folders over. Laptop hard drives are sold at some electronic stores for pretty good prices. The one that I know of is called Fry's Electronics. See if there is one around you and if not, ask someone at other electronics stores, or you can order a laptop hard drive online.

Laptop HDs are 2.5" while desktop HDs are 3.5". I'm pretty sure there is one universal connection type for 2.5" HDs (unlike SATA and IDE for 3.5") so it shouldn't really matter. The main thing you'll have to do is format the HD when you put it in and then install a new OS. I've never actually done a copy of one HD to another, so I'm not sure if all the OS settings and stuff will work out, it's not just the files that makes a difference. I think otherwise, it shouldn't be an issue.

specific, it may artwork. The restoration disc tests for specific values present in the device BIOS (as an occasion, the producer string and sort huge type string). as long as you hold a similar motherboard, SLP-activated copies of homestead windows will proceed to artwork, and restoration discs could desire to detect the pc sort wisely.

find a free online storage website. upload your hard drive to it. get a new hard drive and install it. download your entire old hard drive content back from the website. enjoy.
