No, I didn't ask to be gay. I can't choose to become heterosexual any more than someone heterosexual can decide to stop fancying men and start liking woman, or can stop being aroused by women's breasts and start being turned on by a nice pair of balls.
How is it working out? I'm in my 40s, I'm married (to another man), and we are living in a part of the world with relatively little homophobia, for obvious reasons.
You might as well ask, "Are you tall and thin? How's that working out for you?" and the best answer I can give is that I get cold in winter but I can reach the top shelf of the cupboard. It's what I am, and being gay is also what I am.

oh its just fine.
i live a regular life, work a regular job, have regular hobbies,
we own a home together, i drive and do the dishes, she vacuums and does the litter box.
oh, i am on her health insurance and for some reason she shows up on my credit report.
its a regular cohabitation!

not so much gay. well... i like guys and not girls... but i also feel that in the future whoever i fall in love with, be it man or woman, ill accept it.
right now its guys only, though...
but i dont judge at all. love is love.
