It's just you. NHL always starts about the first week of October, college hockey will start shortly and HS Hockey shortly after that.

(actually I think they go on too long at the end of the season - hockey in June in the Southern USA just doesn't make much sense to me - but then again they didn't ask me)

It is not to early because the winter is coming, and in two months, that's when you'll think the season should start.

longer seasons now and pre season games to see how your team is and what you may want to find in a player maybe bring up new guy to see how they do.
