Definitely somewhere in Canada since it is so far ahead from a fan(and therefore corporate spending) education point of view than a new US market. And I have no idea why Vegas wants a team. They may fill an arena with tourists every game but how will they ever land a local TV deal? That's a big financial loss compared to most markets.

Interestingly, a tsn.ca article just quoted Bettman as saying that Winnipeg may have a leg up at this point although expansion is a long ways off.

Seattle. We need more teams out West to lessen the travel sked. They would make a good rival for the Canucks. They have a strong hockey culture in Washington state (Everett draw really well, Seattle T'birds draw fairly well and there's Tri-City fairly close). Also, Seattle has the bucks (Starbucks, Amazon, Microsoft, Nintendo, Boeing).

Vegas will be next as Bruckheimer and Anschutz are behind all that but Seattle too would rock.

How about Seattle? The Emerald City is due to get a NHL team because the Sonics are rumored to be leaving within the next two years. Seattle seems like it could be a hockey town, and they have an arena that could hold a team.

LAS VEGAS. Yes Vegas. This week the Detroit News ran a GREAT interview with Wings Owner Mike Illitch; Sr. VP Jimmy Devellano; GM Ken Holland and former coach Scotty Bowman. Please see the following quote from Jimmy D. (And please check out the entire article. If you are a hockey fan it is well worth the read.)

Devellano: I'd just like to add one more thing about expansion. There's little doubt that Vegas is coming in (as an expansion franchise) -- it's about four years from now. And I truly believe (NHL commissioner) Gary Bettman will move us East at that time.

Ilitch: Bettman has told Jimmy and I on two or three occasions that we're next.

Houston, TX. Texas has the most professional hockey teams here (if you don't believe me, read your current USA Hockey mags or ask your kids) even with that..people in TX know nothing about hockey and could care less...they need a reason to like hockey and bring something fun to watch and play in this hot miserable place.

None. The NHL needs to work on some of its current problems before they even THINK of expansion. In fact, I think that expansion is a bad idea. There are enough teams already.

A better question is, which two teams should be done away with? I think Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning. Come on, hockey in Florida? You could just retract them, or move them. And if they are going to move, it should def. be to Canada--anywhere but Hamilton.

Winnipeg or Quebec but I agree with Bob that there are enough teams, they should move one or two of them though.
