I want to change my glass door to a shower curtain for my bathtub. It is way too hard to clean the glass one and it has fallen off the track.

Is there a way that I can take off the track/ doors all together and put up a shower curtain? Or Would I have to get a whole new bathtub?

I had the same situation so I took out the shower door frame, scrapped the left over adhesive caulk from the tub edge, and got it looking like new.

I then went out to Home Depot and bought a spring loaded heavy duty curtain rod that adjusts in length to act as a shower curtain rod. They have rubber grip end caps. You buy the length that is closest to what you need then either screw it into itself further or unscrew it out to adjust it for a perfect fit against your shower walls. Since it's spring loaded it stays in place without moving. No holes need to be drilled and you don't need brackets to hold the rod in place. They come in various colors too. Mine cost $12.99. I have a heavy canvas shower curtain and liner on mine and it's not going to budge.Worked out GREAT! Any home center like Home Depot or Lowes have them in stock....If you need additional info, I'll be happy to answer your questions.Good Luck!

I'm with the others. Just lift the doors off the tracks & remove the header & sides then caulk holes, but wear rubber gloves to give you a better grip when handling the glass. If there is old caulk that needs to be removed, use a paint scraper with a razor blade, be sure to keep it flat on the surface.

If you like the doors, but just have trouble cleaning them, get some Kaboom soap & hard water remover & a Mr. clean magic eraser. I clean our doors while I'm standing in the shower with it running. Spray the doors with cleaner, & let it soak into the grunge while you set the water for your shower. Wet the sponge & wipe down the doors & splash water on them to rinse.

The spring loaded shower rods are great. I prefer the cloth like curtains best, because you can toss them in the washing machine to clean them. Make sure you hang it high enough that it doesn't stay in the water causing a trip hazard.

No, you can take the door track off by itself. It has nothing to do with your bathtub. You just have to repair your walls on either side, touch up your tub and walls and hang your shower curtain rod where you want it. If you need more help, ask at a Home Depot or Loews or your local hardware. They will help you make it right.

I have a curtain on my shower because the base is a tube and it is generally harder to place a glass door on a shower/ bath tube. I personally prefer glass doors- better looking, easier to clean- the only problem is depending on the glass, they could break. (I have a dog that runs around a lot) Shower curtains are cheaper but I think doors look better in the long run

Nope it is attached with silicone and a couple of screws into the side walls. Simply remove the doors, take off the top track ( it may have a small screw in the back to keep it in place.) remove the screws from the side pieces in to the wall, and then the bottom rail. Now, take a razor knife or a small chisel and , GENTLY, scrape off the residue. Cut the top of any inserts in the wall off and poke it them all the way in. fill the hole with grout if you have some of Tub and Tile caulking if you do not

Usually you can, however the shower doors probably have pieces that are screwed to the side walls. When you remove the side pieces and top rail, (after removing the doors) you probably will have 2-3 holes that you can caulk in.

you can pull the door and put caulk in the holes

install a new curved curtain rod and you will have a bigger shower w/o it sucking up to you

you will need a drill, a level and a hack saw to in stall

it is real easy to take shower glass doors off. they are the same way your closet doors come off. you do not have to
