Does anyone know how one could make a Piezoelectricity Science Fair Project. I have a few ideas. For example, I could measure how "conductive" the crystal would get that I would use as I exert more pressure on it. I could see if there's some sort trend, but does anyone know which crystals I would have to use? Are there any that would be cheap to get, but would work very well? Thanks for any help!

Sources for crystals:
crystal microphones, condenser microphones (expensive), and metal can oscillators (available from surplus electronic equipment -- cheap).
Piezo crystals are insulators, so you can't measure the conductivity without some very sensitive equipment. The conductivity will be very very low.

I suppose taking a piezo gas lighter apart and mounting just the crystal stack with a means for people to press it - and get zapped - is too simple. It would certainly get attention though.
Piezo works both ways, squeeze it and make a voltage - OR drive it with a voltage (AC) and get noise - many of the little cheap "speakers" and beepers are pieze devices.
If you had one of each of the above it would demonstrate how physical movement can be converted into electricity - and the second one shows how electricity can be converted into movement (and thus sound)
Just use a bare (without plastic cover) piezo buzzer with built in driver - then just need to connect to a battery

If you can arrange an old gas lighter you will get it easily. Break it open and remove the crystal.
