Just bend down so you're below the water level and look up into the bubblenest. If there are eggs, they'll be a little smaller than the bubbles and have an opaque center - see in photo: http://www.ausfishforum.com/forum/files/bettaspawn2.jpg

you can see them easily. They often hang on the bottom of the males bubbles and from time to time, they fall and the male will get them.
