Get hold of a large, durable, heavy sledgehammer and proceed to smash your computer and monitor into a 1000 little unrecognisable pieces...the thought of buying another computer just to use Y/A should deter you and enable you to continue with your studies without further distraction.
However if you use a computer for your studies then this idea could present a problem....

Answer questions when you wake up like crazy so your daily count runs out. And leave bad answers so you don't get a level up. Also ask as many random small questions so you lose points and end up going to level 1 where you can only answer a few questions

Oooo - how could you stop? It has all the elements of award-winning shows on TV! lol. You COULD pause/quit, but then you'd have to deal with withdrawal (:
On a serious note, have you tried setting a timer? Sometimes that can be an easy solution. Just set a timer for 15 minutes, reset it three times (15 min. increments are easier to get through - as flylady says on flylady.net, "You can do anything for 15 minutes!") then give yourself the last 15 minutes of the hour to do something more fun - like Y!A. (:

X out... Shut your computer off and go do something more productive with your time. Give yourself a time limit.
Know what's more addicting. www.neopets.com
Yes I am a grown woman, and I got addicted to that.. It's much more fun than answers.

Gee- you ARE hooked! :) Ok, -try THIS: Allot yourself "X" # of hours a day to Y. Answers- and STICK TO THAT TIME PERIOD. Set an alarm clock to go off at the end of it- if you have to... -But DON'T stay online for a second longer than the time you've set yourself. Have alittle "discipline"...-that's Important! If you DON'T -you're never going to get ANYTHING done!!! :0

Put some distance between you and your computer. If you are working on the computer, then unplug the internet. If you need the internet too, then no one can help you.

I would join the support group. YA is more addictive than alcohol or sex.
