Wow. Can't say I've heard of anyone getting one. I have heard of nuisance stuff, like getting tires slashed and a rock through the window.
Obviously, you call the authorities if things get out of hand.

I think you have a distorted view of journalism, at least as it is practiced in the West.
After 25 years in journalism I have had no death threats. Reporters who cover cops and courts hear plenty of loud talk, but that's usually all it is -- talk. I'm sure threats do happen, but they are very rarely acted upon. Your best course is to treat everyone fairly. While criminals often aren't the smartest folks, they seem to understand that killing a journalist won't get them money or safety, so they don't do it.
It's a different story for journalists in other parts of the world. Governments and political interests in parts of the developin world such as Central America have killed many journalists. It takes real guts to report honestly when the government really might order your death.

Funny sort of question. IF you do become a journalist do the same as the rest ignore it. I think that very few journalists ever get killed although there are one or two that I would like to bump off.
