RE:
How many hours can a person work in a week ~ legally?

Anyone over the age of 18 can work as many hours as their employer will allow. Their employer may also require them to work as many or as few hours as the employer chooses.

After 40 hours in a week, they must pay 1 1/2 times your regular wage.

If you are 18+, you can technically work as many hours as you'd like. If you only have one employer, though, most employers aren't so fond of paying overtime pay to their hourly employees (over 40 hours in one week you receive 1.5 times your normal hourly pay in most situations) and aren't usually so open to giving you the opportunity to work limitless hours. It'd be nice at a lot of jobs to have that freedom!

you can work as many hours as you want.
Some people pay for you to stay with them 24 hours a day even when you sleep.
Some jobs allow you to sleep there and pay you because your away from home and available at all times if needed. It's not uncommon for wealthy or elderly people to need some one there to care for them all the time.

No limits, except that the employer must give you your Sabbath. Many lawyers work 80-100 hours per week, for example.

There's no law against working for as many hours as your Employer permits. So if you want to work until you "drop"- go for it. -But you're probably going to lose a lot of time from your job NEXT week- sleeping! :)
