so i've heard silver nitrate makes a nice temp tattoo but i've also read it's corrosive to the skin. i'm a little confused...help?

Silver leaves a tattoo of black silver metal on the skin. The "tatoo" wears away in time. It is not overall toxic. Doctors drop a few drops of silver nitrate solution into babies' eyes at birth to protect against gonorrhea. (It says so on my birth certificate.)
