you can go to home depot and have the door cut, but you may want to hire someone as it is not easy

if you have to shave/trim the door. the hinges will need to be cut in to the door at the (top hinges at 7" from top of door and lower hinge at 68"in most cases) and you will need a router for this. the handle will need to be cut in also

you can replace the whole door (jam and door) a little easier then that and it is per hung with the handle cut in. you will need to plumb it in and replace the case molding

Redo your measerments , If your right it,s strange, measure from top of door to top of top hinge, then do the same top of door to top of bottom hinge, then the size of hinge 3-4 in, alos top of door to centre of handle.. thake these to a store with it,s own mill shop. If your cutting down the door and its a hallow core door the shop will put new 1.1/4 "fillers in the edges they have to cut off, Homer dosent offer to do this work where i live if your Lowes has a shop they should do it for you in Canada Rona will at about 25-30$ The Know nothing guys at Homers havent a Clue

A 26 inch door is not very common anymore. You may have to have a costom door made.
Some shops and handiman can cut down a door and install a filler strip on the edge that is cut off. for me it is a tedious and messy job. but can be done.
