I read on CNN.com that it is estimated that 400 people have been killed for homosexuality. If you do a search on CNN's site, you should be able to find the article - it was on the day of the speech. I think the article named the group that made the estimate, so they might have a more detailed website.

To my knowledge, after the 1979 revolution over 4000 were killed for being homosexual. Not all Muslim countries are against homosexuality, some allow it others don't. Some jail, fine or whip homosexuals. It is allowed in Turkey, provided they keep a low profile. The Quran is against homosexuality.
