We have an air base in Kyrgyzstan, to support our efforts in Operation Enduring Freedom. It's an old Soviet air base. We initially named it for the FDNY commissioner who died in lower Manhattan on September 11, 2001. The Kyrgyz government demanded we re-name it Manas Air Base and we did. They also want to end their arrangement with us because of the unfortunate death of a Kyrgyz civilian who was shot to death while trying to drive into the base past the security guards without stopping. Their current President is on a crash course to name everything after him. He is becoming South Central Asia's version of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
