I use Clorox clean up. It is a spray that seriously takes out everything! Once, my husband spilled grape jelly on our whit ecounter top and let it sit overnight...
I sprayed this stuff on it and let it sit for like 10 minutes. I wiped it away and you would have never known it was there.
You also could use bleach (since it is the same stuff in the Clorox clean up) I would fill the sink with 1/4 water and 4 cap fulls of bleach. Let it sit for like an hour and then rinse it out with a sponge.
Hope this helps! =)

You can put the stopper in first, fill up the sink just enough to wet the stained area and add half a cup of bleach. Then let it sit there overnight for best results. For safety reasons, let everyone know there is bleach in the water and warn them not to touch it.
In the morning, rinse well with soapy water.

If you're going to stop up your sink and let the bleachwater sit so the bleaching agent can work, it doesn't matter that *that* side is the side with the garbage disposal (long as you don't USE the disposal while you are bleaching).
If *that* doesn't work, you can always buy one of those cream cleansers with bleach in it, smear it around the sink, let it sit and dry for awhile (you don't have to stop up the sink for that) and see if that will bleach the sink out white again.

Actually, what works really well on stains like this is denture cleaner! Buy some cheap denture tablets, fill the sink above the level of the stain, and drop in a few tablets.
These tablets also work great for cleaning stained mugs and for cleaning coffee carafes.

Wet the sink and sprinkle Ajax or Comet powder. Leave it for about 30 mins and then scrub the whole sink clean. It will whiten to original color.

i would try the sos pads that have soap in them (i like the lemon ones) they are not real steal wool so they don't scratch your sink, they are made for porcelain and other surfaces that need a gentle cleaning, but iwould try that first. if that doesn't work then maybe try just pouring a little bleach in the sink full of water like you said, i've done that as well but to get hard water stains out and it kind of worked, but s.o.s pads are miracle workers. (my husband always leaves his tea or coke in the sink too so it gets stained quickly, sos takes it out!)

You don't even have to stop it up just pour bleach over it and it will trun white again. I love bleach one of my favorite cleaning things as I have owned a cleaning business for over 25 years. It won't Harm a thing.
