• Panasonic DMR-EH75VS
Hard-drive DVD / VHS recorder.
This Panasonic DVD recorder has a DVD player/recorder, an integrated VCR and an 80GB hard-disk drive for programmed recordings -- the advantage to a hard drive is that you can record shows for temporary viewing rather than burning everything to a DVD. Reviews say video quality is excellent, and it records especially well in LP mode, so you can fit more programs on a disc. Some reviews say this model is initially confusing to use. However, it does have an EPG and IR blaster, so you can more easily set up timed recordings. Downsides include the high price and limited availability. Since the Panasonic DMR-EH75VS has an analog tuner (instead of a digital tuner), those who get their TV through an antenna should skip this model

If you have Brighthouse you can get their PVR (It is like TIVO). The differences are the Season Pass options are not as many and the scheduling only goes a few days out, rather than a few weeks like TIVO. Plus it cannot learn your likes and dislikes like TIVO. Other than that they are the same (Except the remote control is the pitts! The fast forward button is right next to the watch live TV button and it is easy to hit the wrong one.)

Have a look at Gen5 Archos 605 Wifi device. Read the reviews
and then decide if this is what you want. It is handy, portable
and able to watch it anywhere you want. Many more features
come with this device.
