Truly self-conscious robots would have the same curse that we endure- an all-encompassing need to find THE TRUTH.
As their creators, we probably would enjoy an extensive period of grace, before they realized that just because we created them doesn't mean we are the TRUTH.
Hey, wait a minute, does that apply to us as well???

you're doubtlessly conscious. in case you spot, you're basically conscious once you intentionally take it sluggish to be conscious. Like genuine now. somebody reminds you or subsequently, you actual reminded your self. yet expertise is actual very some distance from us. We often stay in a state of "waking sleep". people can stay in 4 states of expertise, yet nature basically takes us as much as the 2nd state. To penetrate the 0.33 state demands a style of committment and attempt that maximum human beings can't even think of, no longer to show gain. although there is evidence that particular persons had substitute into conscious. it somewhat is, they penetrated the 0.33 state. The fourth state is a thoroughly diverse point of being. those are people who've a magical, even mythical high quality to them. Jesus; Buddha; Rumi; the nameless guy or woman who generated the belief of establishing the super gothic cathedrals in western Europe interior the thirteenth century. so some distance as robots, do no longer complication approximately them. complication approximately what YOU substitute into once you're actually not REMEMBERING your self.

Indeed, the future looks SHINY, you ROBOT-HUGGER. ;-)
Humanity is always on the lookout for the next exploitable less-than-human. That *we* should be subjugated by a created slave population is probably justice on a universal scale.
Also, FYI, you’ve just presented an argument that evolution will be replaced by “creationism”—I’m somewhat concerned.
I suppose one day some misguided lil’ bots will dig up my computer, and call it a “fossil”…

The word "robot" actually comes from the Russian word for slave. So yes, they were always planned and envisaged as slaves.

I love the second paragraph after your question! That would be the MOST logical conclusion to draw. I mean, why have us do the hard work; we'd have to be fed so we'd stay strong, & how about health insurance? Very, very costly for employers! Do you think they'd have an adequate minimum wage so we wouldn't have to sleep in boxes, or under bridges???
Oh dear, we humans are already there, aren't we? What's to fear??
Ethan, you're too bloody serious! If we make them, we're their creator, & they'd have to be JUST LIKE US. Image & likeness. (Or would they look like tin?)

I wouldn't say that slavery would apply to robots. Robots are man-made materials that do not have feelings. They are there to serve its purpose why they were created. Compensation will likewise won't apply to them for they are there to help their company.

Robots aren't coming as soon as you think they are. Intellegent robots like off "Transformers" will probably be invented long after you die.

You have the audacity to ask a religious question under the guise of philosophy. Ok, we are the Gods of the robots and therefore are not required to pay them. We are smarter than robots and they will never control us anymore than we will ever control God although some may try. If the robots get out of hand we flood them with water and watch them rust.

In your scenario, I believe 2 'species' can live side by side without killing or dominating the other. Why not?
