It was legal years ago. There was law that passed making it illegal. People have tried for years to legalize it. Remember the hippys in the 1960s. They took to the streets to get it legalized to no avail. The truth is that the government could care less how many people want it legalized.

There are a lot of misconceptions about marijuana, which is why it is still illegal. While there are a few who are supporting it and even pushing bills, most lawmakers don't want to legalize any kind of drug if they don't have to, which means it probably won't happen anytime soon. People need to speak out and maybe someday the government will realize what everyone else already has. It's going to start real slow, and real small at first though if it ever happens.Check out www.NORML.com for more info on it and see what the laws are in Texas regarding possession.

It was legalized in 1996 here in California for medical patients. In 2004 a bill was passed in California regarding the sales and distribution of the medicine. In the bill it states Marijuana can be used to in over 250 medical conditions both serious and not. Also it states a doctor can recommend Marijuana for any condition in the American Disability Act passed in 1990 I think. In fact, their are over 300,000 medical marijuana patients in California alone and it is estimated they are at least 2 million daily pot smokers in California alone.

My point is the people of California have spoken, it did get legalized for the most part because it is just an herb very similar to a vitamin supplement. However, the federal government and certain Law Enforcement Agencies within the state still want to keep it illegal. Even though the people have spoken overwhelmly.

This is the element of Nazim that is plaguing our democracy. Marijuana has been legalized, its value and benefits have being recognized by both independent, state, and federal studies. But it's implementation of legal standing is being blocked by true lack of democracy.

The public is so miss informed about mary jane it is not even funny! The only health risk, that I know of that are associated with "weed" is the same health risk that you get when you smoke a cigarette, oh minus the cancer! If it affects your brain cells then I must be a tard, because I am 39 now and have been smoking weed off and on since I was 14, oh yeah 3.0 GPA, college grad in "05". I have known of NO ONE running anyone over at Mickey D's drive through, shooting or stabbing themselves, oh but don't get them drunk, because then they kill either someone else or themselves. We all know that there are more DUI offenders, then there are incidences with weed, we are just fed more on the drugs then the alcohol. Not to mention as well that the wonderful entity that we call the F.D.A approved "Oxy" probably the number one abused prescription drug in the USA right now, it is only synthetic HEROIN, no one will get addicted, we can control this. Most illicit drug use and testing has been done by the FDA and we trust them!!!!!!!

Anything is possible but also lots of things do not make much sense.
Legalizing it in my opinion could be both good and bad, It would give the bible thumpers someone to mess with other than smokers and alcohol users.
It would provoke a tax helping pay off the national and state debits with out messing with smokers and alcohol users, not to mention children receiving child support. Considering that it is seven more times harmful than the tobacco the users would not last long helping control population growth.
In Addition it would invoke many new laws to control use while driving and use at work and use on the streets etc.
It would also put the pushers out of a job so they would have to go to selling the bigger and better stuff to our kids at school. It would up crime related incidents because after the taxation of this item the cost would be so expensive that folks would have to turn to crime to support there habit.Based off the normal attitude of the Texans Most violators would be shot on sight so ummmmmmm well yeah lets give it a try might just get rid of some of our other problems, Then reverse of the prohibition years after they all kill themselves and others off we could just make it illegal again.

It is legal if ya don't get caught but the state recently changed it to a traffic ticket for up to 4 ozs. but they let each police department decide if they want to arrest you or not so if your police department is the towns cash cow like so many are these days you can still go to jail.

No matter how many people want it legal its not going to happen because they make way too much money. Going to court = pay your lawyer, pay court fees, all the money going to the judge and other people in the court system.

So its not going to happen anytime soon!

I don't really care. There are two positions that I would take on drugs being legal or not.

Option 1) Make them illegal. If you get caught dealing it, then you get the death penalty. If you get caught using it, then you get sentenced to 6 months to 1 year rehabilitation boot camp. No hard core criminals there, just drug users.

Option 2) Make them all Legal. The hardcore addicts will eventually use themselves up and it takes away the criminal element so that law enforcement can focus on other problems.

I do not support anything in between these 2 options. It has to be one or the other.

It would make sense so face it, it's not gonna happen.
Too many people, (dealers included),
