I don't want the door removed, I just want it blocked or hidden. I have a house I separated into 2-units. This door I'm hiding basically connects the house. With respect for privacy, how do I block this door and dampen the noise coming from/through the door?

You would have to get it securely locked. How is it locked now? Is your side the inset side or is the door itself flush with your wall? If the wall is inset on your side you may need to cover the inset or maybe fill it with something that would be easy to remove if necessary. The knob could be left in place if it is needed for security or is decorative. If it sticks out it could be covered to match the finished wall.

Then I would use fabric on that wall. You could put batting, thin foam, or acoustic tiles under the fabric to help to dampen sounds. The fabric could be put on flat or it could be shirred. The edges could be sewn or glued together to span the entire wall and you could use some decorative trim or matching fabric trim or molding on the top & bottom edges. The fabric can be stapled on or if you do not put padding under it it can be put up with starch.

Lock the door.
Remove the knob hardware.
Cover the door frame with a sheet of plywood,
screwed to the door frame with countersunk screws,
with fiberglass insulation between the door and
the plywood on both sides.
Finish the plywood outsides as you see fit.

I'd suggest a book case or tv unit. It's probably easiest.
You could also put up artwork or a large mirror.
