What should you do if your big toe nail is broken in half?

should i try taking it off or should I let it fall on its own?
will it hurt?

I would leave it alone. Let it grow. Don't try to pull it out or you may get an infection. Try buffing it down a bit and painting them if you wear open toed shoes. Otherwise, let time heal it.

1] soak it in warm soapy water.
2]Dry it carefully.
3]Apply antibiotic ointment and a bandage to protect area.
{ If nail is hanging loose, you can carefully cut it off. Otherwise, just cover it. }
4] Change bandage and ointment twice a day.

is it broken length wise or width wise? I'd say put a bandaide on it and let it heal/fall off on its own. If you tear it off yourself you may make it worse, and it will hurt like a mo fo!
