I have a 20'' TFT which has a maximum
refresh rate of 60Hz.
I'm also using Ubuntu Linux where unfortunately I cannot set the refresh rate under 75Hz..
Is it potentially dangerous to operate my screen in such a refresh rate?

Are you sure you can't set Ubuntu to < 60Hz? I can for my version using the restricted N-Vidia drivers.

No it should not be a problem. Too high a refresh rate can physically break down the liquid crystal, but 75 Hz is O.K.

Because you have a faster pixel rate, and so a shorter pixel time, what you may see is some blurring/jitter on sharp edges if you are driving the monitor with an analog (VGA ) signal. If so, put up a busy screen (Text Editor filled with H characters is a good one) and hit the auto adjust on the monitor.

naw if your monitor cant take 75 hz its a piece of junk it should be just perfectly fine.. if you monitor couldent handle it it would pop up and say frequency out of range and it would be just a black screen 75 hz is a pretty standard refresh rate for stuff you should be fine

severe exhibit refresh expenditures are good for video and could make different issues look smoother. the only undertaking you may come for the duration of could be that the pictures card has to paintings a splash greater good inspite of the shown fact that it does not impact is plenty.
