Perhaps in Kentucky, $80k per year buys...well, let's face it, it buys the whole state. But in most of the Northeast, a "starter" home goes for $450,000, and we pay the highest taxes in the land. A family of four on $80,000 per year would need to eat Ramen noodles three meals a day and live in a garden shed.

It would be nice to have more children covered by health insurance. I am tired of paying for emergency room visits for children with serious problems because the GOP refuses to allow the same children to be treated when the problems are minor.
How come people who claim to be "pro-life" flip flop when the issue concerns a real live breathing human being? If you are pro-life then you support healthcare for children.

I live in NJ & make less than half of what you do. My son is covered thru his fathers new wife, (he was fired for dating his new wife, his secretary) but I work 40 hours for a small business that the repubs say they don't have to even help get coverage for their workers! It would be cheaper if I was in a group, but no, they don't help at all! Why don't you help me?? That would make more sense, & I don't even need extra for starbucks!

I think the $80,000 a year annual income thing was intended for those with a larger cost of living. Who live in, say, New York City, where a closet fetches over $2,000 a month in rent.
Cute, though.

That puts it in perspective, doesn't it? Well, since you make a higher salary than I do, the answer is a respectful "No, I won't."
Nor do I expect you to pay for my health insurance, or my husband's or our daughter's.
