Do you start counting from the date you separte are from the date that is file, to determine your divorce date?

The date the judge decrees you to be divorced is the actual date. The papers are then filed and you will recieve yours in the mail.

Divorces are never easy. When you file is the start of the divorce, the end that's another thing. If the divorce is contested in any way, if there are children, if there is spousal support, the divorce could be dragged out for sometime. The circumstances affect the final date. The day the judge grants the divorce is the day your marriage is over.

From the date your divorce is final - whatever date is on the divorce decree.

I thought it was from the day you file for divorce.

counting for what?
How long your before your divorce is final? that would be from the day you file.
How long you've been single again? that would be the day you separate.
