Yes, life carries its meaning in itself and does not look to anything else to give it meaning. It that sense it is like Justice or Goodness. It needs nothing but itself to be worth having.

This is considered the most intelligent question according to the ancient Vedic wisdom- In a nut shell-
We are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies.
This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. We came here out of envy of Gods position, so he said knock yourself out and sent us so we could try to lord it over material nature. After many lives and becoming frustrated, the fallen soul seeks the Truth. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga) which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life they can return to the eternal Kingdom where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy.
For info. Go to harekrishnatemple.com Read Bhagavad Gita- As it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada asitis.com you can read it on line. I am done here and Going Home this life. But it is only simple for the simple to follow this highest Truth. Thanks.

I think meaning is the same as worth. We have worth when we serve a purpose. Things that don't serve a purpose are worthless.

Purpose requires God:

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell

So either life has no purpose or meaning or seeking God is our purpose. Christians believe that we seek and find God when we try to obey His command to love our neighbors for where love is, there God is also.
