You know, like not saying, "This ship is unsinkable!" or "What else could go wrong?" or "Who's your Daddy?" to a much younger woman?

There are some pretty big chunks of the sixties and seventies I don't remember, Spiritseeker.

It is a superadage...or possibly a validstition?

I have seen it work so many times that I can't accept it as pure coincidence. However I am not sure if it can be properly called fate.
I think it is more like Karma or evolution; as you think so you become, as you do to others, so do others do to you, every action has an equal and opposite reaction etc etc

Fate is the FINAL arbitor in ALL cases. No matter how serious the gathering, how formal the occasion, how structured the ceremony, FATE has a WAY of just turning it into a Keystone Cops festival with just ONE well placed pratfall or spilled drink. Everything and EVERYONE that exists and ever has existed and ever WILL exist is subject to the whims of Fate, even the Creator itself. Fate ALSO goes by the name Murphy, in case you've forgotten, and ALWAYS gets the last word in. LOL

It's like putting yourself into karma receivership. Never tempt the Fates! I have seen twists of fate much to often not to believe in the strength of the spoken word!

Though I'm not sure about the "who's your daddy" thing. Where did that come from Madpol? Hmmmm.....

I had never heard that saying. I guess it's related to that feeling of being able to 'exorcise' possible dangers by foreseeing them? Like if you explore the consequences carefully before doing something, you are not going to be surprised by anything?
