Check out MUDs, MOOs, MUSHs, MUSEs. They are all older than any of the games you mentioned. Some are older than internet. A mud is a Mutli-User Dungeon, muse is a multiuser simulated environment.
They are text based. But other than that they are quite worthwhile if you are willing to check them out. Varied, addictive, they play fast on old machines. And many of them allow you to add to them. You can get to most of them using telnet (which comes with your computer) but there are some better player-clients out there so that you can do things like creating macro-strings to repeat common actions (like traveling a distance to a favorite monster)

I would suggest looking into RFU (Rising Force Ultimate) its a good mmorpg with 3 races instead of just 2. unlike the official RFO its free. heres the link for it.
