Hi, Drea!

I have chosen not to investigate Thanksgiving because I want to celebrate it with my family, and I'm not aware of any pagan stuff.

Because of lack of research, I don't know what exactly went on at Thanksgiving. But there are a few things I do know.

The Pilgrims were deeply ritualized and religious. Their worship of God was not optional.

From the very time they landed, the Pilgrims had massive trouble with finding enough food, keeping warm, fighting illnesses they'd never encountered, building enough housing to shelter everyone, and dealing with the native people.

So then we look at us: We mostly have enough food, don't have problems with epidemics sweeping the country, we have places to live or shelters to keep us warm, and, in general there is peace and safety.

We are fat and spoiled lol. Let's pretend we weren't so spoiled and prepare a feast where we fellowship with each other in love and kindness, and fellowship with God in thankfulness for His great mercy and grace toward us who believe.

The Pilgrims being new to the country. had very little food.
The place they lived in probably had very little heat even to
cook the food. The pilgrims and the Indians probably shared
their food. some provided the vegetables, some provided
the meat, which was rabbit or quail. No turkey, stuffing or
cranberry's, apple pie or ice cream. There was very little
talk, because they spoke different languages. So the
gathering may have been eventful, but short. <}:-})

They didn't visit family members. Sometimes, pilgrims left behind parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins when they left england. It was hard to go visit grandma when she lived across the Atlantic Ocean.
