I do not know anything about Ron Paul. His name comes up frequently here and I just looked him up and I see that he is a libertarian Congressman. That actually intrigues me somewhat. I'll read up about him.
Having said that, I'll respond as follows, in general and without regard to Mr. Paul: How many Americans have read the Constitution? In its entirety and several times, at least? (And studied its interpretation?) Have you, the questioner? Many people mention the Constitution or constitutionality, but have not even read or studied the Constitution.

Ron Paul and Dennis Kuchinch win on the XM debates but it goes without big media attention.
People like these mavericks because they expose reality and answer with some substance rather than charm and generalities alone.
People are not against Ron Paul. The media is against Ron Paul because he won't control his tongue for the wealthies benefit. He might fight for the working class. The media has who they want us to vote for picked out and citizens will probably follow like sheep. Watch the documentary "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdock's War on Journalism.
Personally I want the most qualified Presidential Candidate - Governor Bill Richardson -
4 time Nobel Peace Prize nominee,
US Energy Secretary when gas was $1,
Popular NM Governor, and
Congressman for 15 years.
Senators don't usually win elections and experience is limited to writing and debating public policies.

If politicians had to stay within the constitution, it would limit their power. An example is education. There is no provision in the constitution for public education, yet the government is all over it.
I think people have become so used to the government being involved in so many aspects of our lives that true freedom has been lost .

I am not sure many Americans have read the constitution. Even fewer understand it. We have strayed pretty far from original intent in the past 50 years and I do not think we can put the cat back in the bag now.

You are right, he does believe in the Constitution but there are Democrats that have been fighting for our Constitutional Rights in spite of a constant barrage of attacks as well!
