If you don't save all your document then you will lose data til the last time it was saved.
Ctrl + Alt + Del is a way to reboot in Windows 98 and below. In Windows XP, you simply can go to Start and Shutdown to restart the computer. In Windows 98, you can but it harder to do it in Windows XP.

You are not talking rebooting. Rebooting is starting over from your present setup which is what happens every time you turn on the power switch.
You are talking about reformatting the main disk which is wiping out the entire contents of your disk drive. That is something you should think about carefully before doing because you will need to put back the operating system and any programs (like your word processor) and also any data you care about (like photos and data files).
You just need to get all the program Cd's including the operating system lined up for a reload. Then you go to START, COMMAND, FORMAT C:, and then click YES when it says "do you know you are about to destroy the contents of your computer but you want to do it anyway?"
When it is done boot from the operating system CD and follow its instructions.

Well, "rebooting" is simply turning off your computer and turning it back on.. which is not your question.
You are asking how to reformat your hard drive, which, if you don't have the required recovery discs, it is not a smart thing to do.
To access the area to do this, you have to press F8 during your computer start up (a whole bunch of times to catch it) and follow the prompts to reformat. But: DON'T DO IT!!

when you reboot your computer, you don't loose anything, it saves all your settings. all you do is press start, then restart. it will shut down for a few seconds, then restart automatically, and is like you just started your computer up.

I believe you mean FORMAT not BOOT.
You will need your installation CD and be able to format your Harddrive. I recommend that you get one your Savvy friends to assist.
