I got married for many, many reasons. Though I guess one main reason was that I couldn't imagine living my life without her. I felt that way at the time I was thinking about marrying her, and I still feel that way today. That reason had just about everything to do with her and who she was, and what she meant to me.

Another reason, which had more to do with me and who I was, was that I knew I wanted to be a husband, and a dad. Always had, and I always will. I think I owe that desire in life to my Catholic - Italian upbringing... and she seemed to have the same desire in life, to be a wife & mom... though hers was an Irish - Catholic upbringing.

We met one evening through a mutual friend... we all had got together to go to a party. She and I were instantly joined at the hip that night, and have been like that ever since... so when we started thinking about getting married, it was too good of a story to not continue.

honestly, because we lived together for a long time and had 2 kids together and were very much in love and perfectly happy unwed but it is hard to live that life without a piece of paper saying we are married. For insurance and medical and financial reasons we needed to get married. It was the next necessary step.

Because I jumped into it too quickly after a divorce from my first wife who I caught in OUR bed with my friend! My present wife only wanted a man so she could show all her other 47+( in age) female friends that she wasn't going to be an old maid( a term I detest). In 15 years, our marriage has nothing, just nothing, no spark, just same old, same old loneliness.

At the time I thought that if I didn't marry him nobody else would ask me.

Because I thought he was the one I was going to spend the rest of my life with, boy was I wrong. However, it took two to make it and two to break it and I wish him no ill, after all he is the father of my two beautiful daughters. ( made it 17 years before the divorce!)

Because I was in love and wanted to have a family with him. I also felt a strong sense of pride to know that I would forever carry his last name.

Well....you see...I was 20 years old and didn't want to be an old maid. AND....I was going to be madly in love for the rest of my life. I even quit college. Are you impressed?? Me either.
