Do you believe global warming is real? Are you taking measures to reduce the amount of pollution? I do believe that global warming is real! I don't know what is causing it. Could we be partly responsible? Well, I know that our emmissions certainly could not help matters any! I know that the weather where I live has changed drastically in the last couple of decades. Summers are hotter, longer lasting. The winters are milder and shorter. This year was the hottest ever! At the end of August temperatures soared to over 100 degrees F. The final days of September where also brutally hot! I know that something is different. I do not believe that this is one of those "cycles" that come every so often. And neither do people who have lived here longer than I! They say They have never seen this type of weather here in their entire life!

Well, I don't base what I think on what Al Gore says! I would like to listen to the expert scientists who know more about it! I mean I admire Al Gore's efforts but I think he goes overboard. Its the Scientists who I think we should listen to.

Global warming is real but not a man-made problem. It is a natural phenomenon of the planet and I am doing nothing to reduce pollution.......

Global warming is real - you can see it in the direct measurements right here:

http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/img/climate/research/2005/ann/global-blended-temp-pg.gif

Scientists have concluded that humans greenhouse gas emissions are responsible for 80-90% of the global warming over the past 30 years, as you can see here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Climate_Change_Attribution.png

It's not really a matter of what people believe, because the scientific data all points to humans as the primary cause of the current global warming.

I do what I can to reduce my own emissions. I bought a Prius, I bike to work, I'm probably going to buy an electric scooter for commuting during the winter, my home uses less than one-third the national average household energy consumption, and I support politicians who make the environment a top priority.

"Cycles" in terms of an Earth which has been around millions of years, wouldn't neccesarily be noticed by anyone over the span of a few generations. An Earth cylce might last 500 years. Just because you don't "think" it's a cycle, doesn't mean it isn't. Why are temps on Mars rising? The thing no once has proven is the effect, it's all theory and none of it is weighed by evidence. Right now if a school wants money from the federal government they sponsor a study on the "NEGATIVE" effects of global warming (there is no money to find either positive or nill effects). I say stop worrying and enjoy the weather, I have faith the Earth will get through it just fine.

If you desire to obtain furnish cash for local weather study, do you suppose that you can get a cheque should you say," I want the furnish, as I suppose that I can turn out that the figures that the present paradigm is headquartered upon are unsuitable" ? The excellent environmentalist, David Bellamy, has been silenced, and refused airtime. There continues to be no confirmed causative hyperlink among the quantity of Co2 within the surroundings, and an expand in worldwide temperatures. The WWWF portraits of the polar bears swimming had been taken within the Arctic summer time; whilst the ice cap in part melts, as they could not stand up to image within the wintry weather. The ice used to be too thick! The East-Anglian uni study figures. "Oh! The figures do not fit our expectancies. Oh good. Keep quiet. Because we all know that we're proper." When the perception, and the religion is extra essential than squarely going through the reputable doubts of plenty of non furnish-supported scientists, technology has been superceded through devout zealots. As Oliver Cromwell colourfully mentioned." I pray thee, within the bowels of Christ, take into account that thou mayest be unsuitable."

The Global Warming strategy, for real or not, is an attempt of very rational people, to shake our society into a more sustainable standard of living. At the current rate of environmental abuse, clear cutting, burning fossil fuel, creating garbage and toxic waste, we are one way or another in a dead end road. The US has to come on board of the other 220 nations attempt to curb the destruction of our planet, it is the biggest abuser by far.

Climate change is real, and nobody has questioned that. The argument is whether it is attributable to human activity. In the last analysis, why does that matter? It is probably not solely attributable to what we are doing, but can anyone doubt that we are contributiong to the problem?

Underlying the problem are the twin malignancies of pollution and overpopulation. The poor planet cannot deal with exploding billions -- billions -- of occupants with an insatiable thirst for raw materials, energy, water, and, of course and ultimately, economic advantage at any cost.

And the politicos argue about such inanities/insanities as gay marriage, stem cell research and abortion rights. Gay marriage should be encouraged and rewarded, stem cell research hurts no one and benefits people with awful diseases, and the question as to abortion is not whether it should be permitted, but whether it should be required. There are already too many people; children are starving and being slaughtered and horribly treated around the world; senseless, destructive wars are being fought over control of precious resources; human rights are in the garbage can; religious nut cases are strapping explosives to themselves and killing anyone that doesn't agree with their version of divine intent; our own government is spying on us.

It was long ago demonstrated that if you put a few rats in a cage, they get along fine. If you put a lot of rats in a cage, they begin to fight and bite.

Yours truly,
Just Another Rat

I don't believe in global warming, but I do believe that our climate is changing. There is one possibility that is totally different that what everyone is saying:

There are certain areas of the earth that are becoming more and more populated with people, building, etc. The weight of the excess people etc, is concentrated into different areas. That is causing our plates to shift. When the plates shift, the currents change, and that would cause the weather patterns to change.

Not saying I believe this, but it is a pretty interesting theory. There are so many reasons we could be having a climate change, it's just too hard for me to buy into the whole global warming idea. But I think that it's a good motivator to get people to be more concerned about the environment.

Its real. Its also natural. Earth has been gradually warming since the ice age ended. There are just a few ups and downs along the way.

Of course its hot. It was summer time. Some of the hottest ever recorded temperatures were in the 1930s. It was really cold in the 70's and that caused global cooling scares. People thought that pollution would cause us to freeze. Its just that people don't remember 30 years ago accurately.

Global Warming is very real ! GW is also a very real threat to National Security whether any of The Neo-Cons want to believe it. GW will claim upwards of 80% of our Military Installations, especially our Naval Bases on the East and West Coasts and The Military Academies on The East Coast. They better wake up or we wont have a Military !

I do believe it's real as well--I did my senior paper on it. I take every measure I can--I use only fluorescent lightbulbs and only turn on the lights at night when I have something I need to see, and things like that. Summer was brutal this year--terribly! Where I lived it got up to 105 degrees every day for two weeks.

Even if it turns out to be "fake", which I don't think will happen, aren't preventative measures better in the long run regardless?

I think global warming is a natural part of Earth's cycle, like the seasons. Our emissions don't help, but I don't think they have the effect that Al Gore does. Remember, human being's time on this Earth is a brief moment in the history of our planet, no one would be able to tell us if this is part of a cycle that's repeating.
