Is a woman entitled to any kind of benefit when her husband dies,even if they did not live togther anymore but were still legally married?

Yes it's called Social Security, but there are conditions that have to be met.

A woman I know was still married to this guy they where seperated for 5yrs he died and they say she cant get a widows pension thats in the UK,the reason being they didnt live together any more.............

normally NO....The person that worked for the pension is entitled to the pension...if he or she is dead then this is what life insurance is for......unless she is the sole benificiary then she will get the claims on 401k, pension benifits(if offered under the contract) any investment funds and such...YOU MUST HAVE A BENIFICIARY OR A WILL TO MAKE IT LEGAL..Most lawyers will do this and notorize for a small fee...

i think you will need to go and see a solicotor,thats a difficult one,i somehow dont think you will be able to

yeppers! She is still entitled to SS benefits. If he didn't change his beneficiaries at work then you would get that too...

you should get a widows pension, which is basically half of his pension - contact DWP and they will send you the forms (you'll need his NI number)
