Although missing a period is a major indicator of pregnancy, irregular periods can be cause by other things as well.

Things such as :
Stress
Diet
Hormone Imbalance

While it is probably nothing, it has the possibility of being something very serious. Since I'm not sure how long you have been getting your period I would suggest you make an appointment with a doctor. It is common for girls who are in the first years of their periods to have irregular cycles but since you are 20 I am going to assume you have been getting your period for at least 5 years, which means it would have regulated itself by now. On top of that you have said that you have been having pretty regular periods.

Have you been under more stress than usual?

Either way, my best advice is to seek out professional medical care.

Such flows is additionally prolonged or have a end and commence development. the explanation for this erratic or prolonged bleeding is this: with out the progesterone the lining does not have a sparkling shed right down to the backside layer. reasons for no longer ovulating are multifold: thyroid issues, pituitary issues, ovarian cysts, actual stressors (eg surprising will develop in exercising, crash weight-reduction plan), emotional stressors (problems with mothers and dads or boyfriends/girlfriends, assessments), bigger bodyweight, anorexia, rotating shifts at artwork, etc. If the bleeding persists you may desire to touch your GYN or sanatorium. Are you exercising or dieting heavily? If so, you may need to increase your body fat just a little bit. Have you had a major trauma? I was in a rollover car wreck, and didn't get one for six months! The doctor said it was normal. I think you should go to the doctor just to be sure if you miss another one.

When you are young it can happen, though it would make sense to make an appt with a gyno. After 18, you should be having your annual pap smear anyway.

Other things that can cause it could be anorexia, extreme working out, stress and hormones. Best to have it checked out, though.

Don't sweat it! It varies between each month like: in July I had the heaviest flow in the world (I had to use a plus plus plus plus tampon (two double plus tampons) and a pad!) and then in September, nothing but just this week it started to dribble out, not a lot, but enough to be happy!
