How can you get M.U.G.E.N. games ot work on Windows XP?

Every time I try to play M.U.G.E.N. games on Windows XP, my computer monitor turns black, and I have start the system up all over again.

A lot of games run at different resolutions and refresh rates from the desktop, so that they can be optimized for the best frame rate at the best resolution. Make sure that the game is running in a resolution and refresh rate that your monitor supports.
