...Or does space have no legal jurisdiction and ownership over any country and thus be open and free for any use that a country see's fit to be in the best interest of its security.

President Bush signed an order last year tacitly asserting the U.S. right to space weapons and opposing the development of treaties or other measures restricting them.

Tensions between Russia and Washington have deepened over U.S. plans to rekindle the stalled "Star Wars" program from the 1980s with a new generation of missile defense shields.

"Its not owned by anyone, nor is it controlled by anyone. its similar to the oceans...."

But, have you ever heard of Restricted Air Space above Countries and National & International waters...? They are controlled and claimed as private and owned by the respected countires...

My stance on the subject is that if its possible then it should be considered and handled in a responsible way.

"Or does space have no legal jurisdiction and ownership" - No, there is not any legal jurisdiction or ownership of space. The only way you could create laws banning the militarization of space is through international treaty.

Personally, I think treaties to eliminate space based weapons is probably a good idea.

faster or later, the human beings ARE going to the celebs, whether that's going to take us some time to get there. and that i doubt it's going to be something like megastar Trek or perhaps Babylon 5 :-) And to objective to cease any usa from coming up orbital weapons, will by no ability be very effectual. US, China, Russia, India, etc. will very just about truly make one in all those weapon, not because of the fact they could, yet because of the fact they are able to! that's the precise clarification why human beings landed on the moon.

anybody can claim "space"

its not owned by anyone, nor is it controlled by anyone.

its similar to the oceans.... the US can use space for travel, exploration, experimentation, protection....

and if using space was outlawed, who would enforce it? and how?

i think its a waste of time, energy and money to try to limit the use of space.

response:

you are correct. there is restricted airspace above countries. however, nobody knows how high the restriction goes. satellites are always flying through that restricted space, and nobody says anything about that. so, as i mentioned, who will enforce it? its not really yours if you cant have total control over it.

USA gonna be kill itself. Their thirst for power and territorry gonna make the rest of country hate it. What the f*** is the next? Heaven? It is just crazy. The claim the ownership of the moon, a moon they did not build. I think Americans are fighting for what they dont need.

That is like a person with two legs fighting for a thirg leg.
