Meg Cabot is great.

I'm not big on romances myself, so I'll have to suggest other books:
"Life as We Knew It" is a story about a teenage girl and her family after an asteroid knocks the moon of it's axis. gripping. The same author wrote a novel about 20 years ago called "The Year without Michael".

Lois Duncan writes great books - some a little too creepy for me

"Number the Stars" is a book about friends during the Holocaust. (This may be too young for you, but it is a really good read)

"Running out of Time" is about a young girl's efforts to save her family and friends from a deadly disease. Jessie Keyser, 13, believes that the year is 1840. In truth, she and her family, along with a small group of others, live in a reconstructed village viewed by unseen modern tourists and used as an experimental site by unethical scientists (OK, I stole that from Amazon!) (This also may be too young for you, but it is a really good read)

go to Amazon and plug in a book that you like - they will tell you other books that are similar or books that others bought. I use that as a jumping point for suggestions)

It depends on the genre. If I am exploring a genre I'm not familiar with, I will avoid the tacky covers. But if I'm familiar with the genre, the covers aren't considered tacky. I like science fiction. Many of the covers are ridiculously tacky if you're not familiar with the genre but within the genre, what's considered tacky might be the most attractive. Put a robot filing a woman's nails whose dress is made of fire straps on the surface of a purple moon and I'll read it. Same goes with horror and romance. Cheap, though, is subjective. Maybe it's better to say it's not professionally-designed. Yes, I do avoid those whether I should or not.

Harry Potter.

From 3 to 103, people all over the world are reading this! It has lots of romance moments. Especially Book 6, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

It' not a teen romance book, but I would definitely recommend The Sight by David Clement-Davies. It is truly amazing, and really changed the way I view humanity. Even if it is not your "type" of book, it is really worth a look. One of the best I've ever read, and is full of unexpected surprises.

I suggest anything from Meg Cabot. Whenever I read anything from her, I cannot put it down! Her characters are very easy to relate to. I also suggest Confessions of a Not It Girl by Melissa Kantor and Freaky Green Eyes by Joyce Carol Oates.

there is a great series...it's the clique series. it's about teenage girls who go to a preppy school and are obsessed with boys and being stylish. the first book is called "the clique." the rest of the books are listed inside of the front cover. i strongly encourage you to look into it.
