Short answer: no way.

Long answer: No, but that's always been true. An effective Democracy always relies on aggressively competing interests and a willing and active voting population. Feel free to blame History text books. They smooth over all of the rough and downright dirty details of most things.

Politics can be interesting and fun. Have a cause and work to affect the political process. I know that's not cool, but that's how a Democracy is supposed to work!

The two-party system is corrupt, corporate-owned, and enshrines meaningless partisan bickering. Ethical, intelligent candidates are typically shut out because the two-party system discourages both creative approaches to the problems our nation faces and independent thinking ability.
