You mean Jack the Ripper?
The case was never officially solved. There were numerous suspects, all of whom are long dead by now. Most people with knowledge of the subject believe that it was John Druitt. His body was found in the Thames River around the same time the killings stopped.
His father was a doctor, and his mother eventually was committed to an asylum. His oldest sister committed suicide. Some records show that he lived close to where the murders took place, or that he may have lived with his parents and had a "base" nearby. Reports also suggest that his own family suspected him to be the murderer.
It is difficult for this case to be officially solved, because over the years evidence from scotland year d has "disappeared" due to the case's popularity.
Regardless, the ripper was dead sometime around 1888, his murders became increasingly voilent and gruesome. Anyone who did that would not hav ebeen able to just "stop". Criminologists suggest that the real ripper had to have died for the murders to stop, which fits perfectly with the death of Druitt.

Nobody knows the name of the Ripper One suspect stands out in my mind and that was Dr. Francis Tumblety. He fled to France and then later to the US. It was only then that the murders stopped.Coincidence.?
