Never use rat poison because then they will die under your hood and you will have a mess to clean.
Try Scattering moth balls around. It works for cats, why not try it for rats.

By the way if rats are getting under an autos hood means that the auto is sitting and not being driven. If this is so, then the best way to keep rats from getting under your hood is to get rid of the auto or start driving it.

Either get a sonic pest deterrent device or leave a nice poison bait tray under there for them to enjoy. If you decide to go sonic, you will need a 12 to 110 converter and a plug in "screamer" pest deterrent. Rats hate the noise and will not go near it (most of the time).

hey use "Lemons" the natural citris hurts there nose and so they stay awy so just squirt some lemon juice around ur car and it should keep them away and for long term us lemon peelings
