I never attended a school that required uniforms but I always liked the idea of it. I like the idea of not having to figure out what to wear in the morning, and it seems like it would be good for kids whose parents can't afford the clothes that are considered to be in style at the time. A lot of people complain because it takes away self-identity and things like that, but I think that the point of being in school is to get an education. You can still wear whatever you want after school and on weekends. Maybe it would be a good idea for some schools to require school uniforms but let students wear regular clothes on Fridays. I remember a lot of people would skip school on Fridays when I was in school and that might even encourage attendance too.

No- you're not the only one who likes school uniforms. Although I generally do not like them very much at all. .in certain situations they are Ok. Examples would be for the school cheerleaders, the school band and/or the school football team (&/or any other school sports-team), etc. School uniforms are certainly Ok at a "private school" setting, where those who have founded the school & those who are attending have a clear understanding of the rules to wear a school uniform -&- are willing to accept that. In a public school setting though; the school is supposed to represent the public. That means a more open & tolerant policy to the public/people of the community (since it is the public's school) regarding clothing/attire when worn, with only basic guidelines in dress code pertaining to decency, health & safety issues.

They're not that bad. But I truly oppose school uniform. Why can't you dress the way you want to dress? Just because some people can't afford the type of clothes. But that's like...telling you to change your personality because other people don't have the same personality as you. How lame. SCHOOL UNIFORM sucks.

Must be. As a parent I fought against it and still am against it. Uniforms ccst me more than regular clothes did. If you want everyone to be the same, you should go to Russia. That's not what America is about.

You might be. Are you a guy or girl? If youre a guy I can understand liking the way the uniforms look on some girls, if you're a girl then that's just bad fashion taste. Unless you can turn it into a kinky looking outfit.

I am a teacher and I have mixed feelings about them. I like them because everybody is wearing the same thing and it is easier to get dressed in the morning but some schools go over board with making you have a certain kind of shoe or belt---that is just crazy who cares about the color of your socks under your pants!

I agree. I think they would be the answer to a lot of problems in schools and eliminate a lot of violence. You should include in that, a dress code--with regard to grooming.
