Why is OK to smear troops IF you are a conservative/Republican?

I dont understand the double standards. Against Pat Tillman's family, againt John Kerry, etc. Could you imagine the rage if someone outside the walls of conservative groupthink said such things?

Looking for conservative non-answers and justifications that proove my point....GO!

No, it is not ok for anyone to smear the troops.

There has been little rage over people like Harry Reid, John Murtha, and John Kerry claiming the troops in Iraq have committed atrocities that they have not committed.
