On a PS3 do you get gamerpoints and can download demos ect. same as you can on the Xbox 360?

NO to the first part but i think you can download demos
see i dont have one, im broke xD

As far as gamerpoints go, the PS3 does not have a system like that yet. The home software should have something to do with gamerpoints though. Say, you might have a trophie saying that you beat something in a game hanging in your virtual house or something.
Demos can be downloaded from the Playstation store along with other items that can be paided for.

Dont worry theres non of that gamerpoint crap on the PS3, you can download the demos for free, as for game add ons, games and downloadable PS2 games theres a small charge usally around £3. Which is much more resonable considering the 360 charge's atleast double of that and thats for just an add on!!

I'm not sure about gamer points because I don't play games online, but there are online rankings and yes you can download demos online. Also, there are Classic Sony games that can be downloaded like: Crash Bandicoot, Medievil, Tekken, and other PS1 Classic games. I download demos all the time and I downloaded Medievil and Crash Bandicoot on my PS3 by the Playstation Store. The Classic PS1 games cost only $5.99 per game, so it's pretty cheap.
