I drive a 2003 Ford Taurus with 30,180 miles.

THIS IS WHAT MY CAR IS DOING:
1. Check engine light was on (until they did the test, NOW its NOT on)
2. Leaking something onto driveway.
3. Seems to run hot. (Middle between C and H).
- even when driving short distances 1 mile.
4. Smells like it is running hot.
- even when driving short distances, 1 mile
5. Has smoked some (very little smoke) a couple of times.

THIS IS WHAT AUTO ZONE COMPUTER SAID.
P1131 FORD

Definition:
Lack of bank 1 02 transition - Lean

Explanation:
ECM detected bank 1 02 at its lean limit.

Probable Cause:
1. Misfire in bank1
2. Vacuum leak affecting bank 1 only
3. Fuel injector probable bank 1
4. Engine mechanical condition.

I am going to take it somewhere in the morning. But anyone have any ideas WHAT could be wrong? How much will this end up costing me? $$$$$$$ :-(

I diagnose from P1131 . You have a heated O2 sensor and the heater is not turning on. It may be worthwhile to change the sensor before the "mekanik" sells you too many other parts. The sensor is on the inlet of the catylitic converter for bank one. Bank one could be left or right bank, the "mekanik" should know. It varies by make of engine. Change it and make sure the codes are cleared and drive it for a while and see if lite comes on again. Try and find a repair shop that has a computer that can make a graph of all your sensors. That will tell you exactly how they are working and will forsee any problems. If the "mekanik" says "I think it might be---", or some such statement, Go elsewhere until you get a straight answer. Ignore the misfire and injector causes, if you had a misfire it would be in the trouble codes.. If you had a vacuum leak your engine would idle rough and possibly die at idle. Your heating problem sounds like a partially plugged radiator. Go to a RADIATOR SHOP, not an auto repair, and have it checked. DON"T GET RIPPED by bad "mekaniks"

The bank 1 O2 lean mixture means that the oxygen sensor on bank 1 is reading a lean air fuel mix. This will cause an engine to run hotter than normal. The lean mix could be caused by a vacuum leak any air leak that is sucking air straight into the engine. Check all vacuum hoses. Also look for exhaust leaks that may draw air in close to the O2 sensor any leaks there could warp valves as well so look it over good. One way to find leaks around the intake Do not try this on the exhaust system is to spray WD-40 around if there is a leak the engine RPM will smooth out and increase a little until the WD40 is gone. Good Luck

well, what your ecm has determined that your oxygen sensor on the number 1 bank of the motor has read it leanist possable mixture and this could be a vacuume leak alowing air to leak in or a fuel injector is clogging up and not spraying enough fuel or there could be a mechanical problem like lifters or valves. with a sensor screwed into the exhaust, they usually end up contamited with ash and will be the first place that they will looking at. O2 sensors can be anywhere from 75.00 to 300.00 dollars roughley. I would guess yours is in the 125.00 range if its a heated sensor less if not I hope that this helps

it seems to have a bad fuel injector in cylinder #1 and is detecting a minimal amount of fuel getting to the cylinder. it's my opinion that the drip is a different situation, and that could be a few different things head gasket leak, cracked block, or as simple as a hose leaking. the auto shop will most likely run a pressure check on the coolant system ti find the specific place where it might be leaking

Fuel filter, maybe fuel pump, broken vacuum line.
There is also the chance that the fuel regulator is not seating or working.
In short anything that could cause less fuel to get to the engine or too much air.

sounds like you either have a hairline crack in your radiator or maybe a hole in the radiator hose. I dont know when it comes to cars you really just have to look at it or get it looked at. It could also be that you might need a new head gasket. Try having the radiator looked at and its hoses first, that would be a chearper easier problem to fix.
