Bios is resident in a chip on the mother board. You can access your bios after you start your computer and before the operating system begins to load. The key you press to get into it will be located on the bottom left of your screen after you push in the power button (delete is most common but may be different) If your operating system begins to load( you see the win logo then youve missed it and must restart) The bios features control is specific to the computer mfgr( What they'll let you change) or the mother board mfgr (which will give you a great deal of options such as boot order, sata or ide devices, ram timing and voltage, cpu timing and voltage, hyper transport frqy, sata raid set ups, key board and mouse leagacy , usb ports, sound , video options, safety shut offs, lan options, power management options etc. etc....

Hi. BIOS is the program built into your motherboard that tells the computer how to boot up. You can see it by tapping F2 during boot (most systems) or holding down the 'Delete" key. Do not change it until you understand it!
