this is really a matter of personal opinion. unless you want to be part of the 360 crowd or the ps3 crowd. who cares. test them both out for yourself and see which one you like better. i heard the 360 was crap and was against buying it until i actually played it. and the whole turning it off every few hours is crap. i have mine running 12-16 hours sometimes. no issues. my cable box creates more heat than it. also if you care about the technical specs so much like where the plastic for the motherboard is made, go build your own console

To put it simply without going into the whole console war thing, the xbox 360 would be the far more logical choice to make. The xbox has the same if not better graphics then the ps3 and runs even smoother. The ps3's price is far too high for what it has and does. It has Blue ray, but honestly who actually cares about blue ray. Unless your a crazed resolution junkie and can somehow notice a difference between HD and blue ray this doesnt matter at all. Next is the line of games, for a gamer this is an important choice and you would like to play MGS4. Keep in mind that just about every game that was on ps2 was on the original xbox also, in addition to xbox's star studded line-up that has never gone to playstations side. Their has even been talk that MGS4 may be going to the xbox 360 exactly 1 year after it is released, and with added content. Their are no good games coming to the ps3 except for that, but on the 360 you have games like Bioshock, Halo 3, Gears of War, Oblivion, and other titles coming soon like; Mass Effect, Army of Two, etc., plus gobs of downloadable content always being added. The online playing is also a big part that you could never get bored with, unlike the ps3 where online is almost nonexistant. But basically if you want a gaming system where your always going to have fun and have something to do on, go with the xbox 360. And if you want to empty your bank account only to get an overpriced shiny pile of plastic with a few pointless features about it that no one cares about, go with the ps3. Xbox360 is and will always be the best choice, trust me youll have more fun on it then you can even handle.

Go with the PS3. It may cost a little more but if you plan on watching movies on it you need to buy a $120 upgrade with the 360. That actually makes it more expensive then the PS3 to watch movies on. PS3 isn't as fragile either. No "red ring of death" no stoppong every 3 or 4 hours to give the system a break. I mean come on stopping so the system doesn't overheat, thats a joke right? Plus 360 is older so PS3 will have the games, it's not fair to compare games when 360 has had a year and a half longer to put games out. Plus you ahve to pay for xbox's internet service. With PS3 it's free plus you get the web browser too. It was no contest for me.
Overall if you want to play a few games and don't have the money get a 360. If you want a true High Def entertainment system, get PS3.

I'm getting a PS3. I have both a ps2 and an xbox, and i love them both...
but i love the games that will come out for PS3 more, Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5, GTA 4 (i'm not sure if it'll be exclusive at first like the other GTA games were)
I love Halo...but i'm still getting a PS3 instead...
And that dood above me is way off...his argument is essentially the same as when the xbox 1st came out, PS2 was well established and had more games, accy's, and the box was more of a computer...that doesn't mean that after a while the box wasn't successful.
The 360 has been out for longer then the PS3, it's that simple...give it time and the PS3 will have as many games, accy's and whatnot...
Plus EA has said that their game platform was off for Madden on PS3, and said that it wasn't going to reoccur...

I really don't think I can answer this question without someone getting offended, but let's use common sense here. Would you rather spend $350 on a game system that has an already-developed line of accessories and a great array of games, or get a system thats $150 more and barely has any games or accessories. Not to mention, there are lots of people that have 360s, but if you ask around your school, see how long it takes you to find someone who has a PS3. The PS3 is all about power, hello, most of us already have computers, and who ACTUALLY uses or needs a blu-ray player? The PS3 is a failed product because if focused too much on being a computer instead of being a game product. Knowing these things, the choice should be obvious. Oh, and as an added bonus, the 360 has HALO 3!

I've played both systems and I really like the 360 a lot better. Graphics are fantastic and there are so many great games out there. Another point is that it truly is backward compatible. I can play all of my old xbox games on the 360. Not many of my PS2 games will play on the PS3. The ones that do look like crap. As far as the overheating and the red rings of death you can prevent that by not letting the system overheat. I make sure that it has plenty of air circulating around it. I never leave it on for more than 6 Hours. Xbox has extended the warranty to 3 years and will fix it for free. I personally have not had that problem. There are fans that you can get to attach to the system.

Xbox 360. I have one and love it. I've played PS3 but the lack of titles makes it a questionable buy right now. The 360 has the support and titles, plus it has decent graphics...which is one of the few advantages the PS3 has over 360.

Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:
Almost a third of XBOX 360 are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%.
Let's compare them
PS3 has 7+1 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3x2
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual DVD (9.5 gb).
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in card reader (except 20 gb version), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $
Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. To estimate its power (roughly) - take 8600 Ultra nvidia graphics card, multiply it by 2 - get a result, still PS3 stronger, because 8600 Ultra runs on 400 Mhz and RSX runs on 550 Mhz.
PS3 has a chip from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This card is on sale for PC. The price is around 350$.
Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 8 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it.
Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.
In 2008 we'll get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4 and other great exclusives. Here is the great link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......
PS3 online world will be free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.
In some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".
The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console.
Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years.
I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it.

Xbox 360 all the way. For one you got the wide range of titles, like Oblivion(great game) Halo 3(AMAZINGGAME), and GoW ( cool game). Also, XBL is pretty simple. The 360 is cheaper too.
