She probably was one. I've been yelled at by crude slob bosses. I spent a summer in the hospital with a paint gun accident, almost cut my arm off with a chainsaw, and got electricuted and has a near death experience. Got $3K for the last thing. How do you get 11 million for being called a witch with a B?

smsm...do your really believe that? The guy is handsome and she looks like Samuel Jackson in a wig. If she were raped by the entire office it might be worth 1 million. How do you justify this?

Wow, sounds like you are accident prone. No, it's not worth 11 million. People are getting away with all kinds of *rap. Realistically, these lawsuits are actually for people like you. They were suppose to pay for the persons expenses when they were out of work because of a paint gun accident. Being called a B is just too far. Spilling coffee on yourself is too far. These are just ridiculous.

Um... aren't you forgetting a few things? She was fired by the multi-zillion dollar corporation, from her job as an executive vice president, for complaining about the harrassment.

Well, that's her story, but let's go along with it, like the jury did.

Maybe in YOUR line of work you can be a klutz and then find another job in a heartbeat, but at her level, it's awful hard to overcome the stigma of being fired and land another job as a top executive right away. Those are some real, compensable damages.

She was fired for seeking the kind of protection the law, and civility, guarantee. Does she deserve $11 mil? Maybe, maybe not. But they deserve to pay -- if, indeed, they're culpable.

That's a gargantuan sign of a failing society. Hopefully people will learn and not let such stupidity and hand holding flourish.

Sure calling names is bad... but sticks and stones! Yeesh, some people need to grow up. But yeah, the hand holding isn't helping.

I'd gladly take a little abuse for 11 mil. Heck, you can even break my arms and legs. Even a couple diseases as long as they are curable. I'll be fine in a little time and never have to worry about money or work again. Invest that into a couple good assets and you're done.

agreed. That is absolutely ridiculous. We have American workers doing jobs that very well could result in death, and we have workplace accidents that cost people limbs or put people in wheelchairs, and the victims do not get settlements that large..... Welcome to America....

Wrack_n_ruin - she was god awful at her job. It was apparent through performance evaluations that she was not meeting expectations. That was their justification for firing her - that and the fact that she went around to every other woman in the office asking them to back her in a sexual harassment suit - if you were her boss, and she did that, and the suit was false, would you have fired her? I know I would have. She would be a cancer in the office. The office seemed split on the case - half of the things she accused him of had witnesses testifying against her.

If she did indeed face discrimination and her allegations were true (which the jury decided was the case), she should have received some form of compensation, but 11 million is definitely excessive.

Sexual harrassment isn't about sexual attraction. It's about using offensive language, leering stares, and doing other things to create a hostile work environment so the victim will leave or transfer out. Basically, the perpetrator wants to get rid of that person, not date him or her or have a relationship with that person. That's why older and less attractive people can become victims of this sort of harrassment, too. It's not just attractive young women who are harrassed, although many people continue to believe it is.

The media has turned this case into an example: Don't sexually harass someone. Don't cover up sexual harassment. Don't fire someone for reporting sexual harassment. Is it worth 11 million? Probably not. I could put up with a lot worse than that for that amount of money.

That’s terrible that you’ve had so many accidents. I hope you have changed professions (I’m not being sarcastic – I mean that), and have found one that’s a lot safer.

Isaiah said in a video interview that black men can say anything the want to black women. Guess he’s learned his lesson!

If someone called me that I'd laugh it off--anyone who takes offense to that needs to GET OVER IT!

I've been called much worse and I just blow it off.

$11 mil is definitely excessive — I don't know how she accomplished that. Labour lawyers need to rethink their priorities.

I should be a rich, rich woman!

$1M? Jeez, if I had a nickle for every time I heard that I would still be rich.
