Weight gain is different for everyone. My pregnancies were:
#1 - 16 lb gain
#2 - 12 lb. loss
#3 - 4 lb gain
My sister-in-law was pregnant at the same time as me and she is 6 inches shorter (almost 5 ft.) and she gained 30-35 lbs. with her kids.
If the doctors aren't concerned I wouldn't be. Coming from a place where my mother-in-law critizes my every move I would tell her to buzz off. Don't let her make you worry. You do not need any more stress at this point.
Enjoy the end of pregancy and have fun with your new baby. Congratulations!

So you're 8 months pregnant and only gained 30 pounds? That's actually very good. By the time I was ready to deliver BOTH my kids, I gained 60 pounds and with each pregnancy I started out at under 100 lbs. Most doctors say you should only gain 20 lbs. throughout the whole pregnancy, but sometimes that's a bit hard to do (even tho my mother did). You only have a month left to go and most weight you gain now is the baby (unless you down 10 Big Macs). If you are active after the baby is born (taking it for walks daily), you will drop whatever weight you gained and I have heard breastfeeding helps you lose weight faster. I don't know. I didn't breastfeed and was back down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 98 lbs. after 3 months. I think you're doing just fine. Just watch what you eat, make sure it's healthy for you and the baby, and keep yourself active. Walking now is good because it will help you with delivery. It is a proven fact that walking helps you have a shorter delivery time and less hard labor. Good luck and congrats! By the way...I'm only 5'1.

How much weight a pregnant woman should ideally gain during pregnancy depends on her weight before pregnancy. The following guidelines are from Dr. Sebastian Faro’s audio program, Preparing for a Healthy Pregnancy, produced through a partnership between the American Pregnancy Association and “Now You Know Media.”
If you are not overweight, the amount of weight that you should gain during the entire pregnancy is between 25 and 37 pounds. If you are underweight you should gain between 28 and 40 pounds and if you are overweight you should gain 15 to 25 pounds throughout the entire pregnancy.
As I see it, you are right on target! Sounds like you are going to have a healthy baby in a few weeks!

Very normal! People put on anywhere from 20 to 50 pounds during pregnancy because remember, you are carrying almost 10 pounds of baby on top of all the other things in there..30 pounds is a nice healthy weight gain. You will probably gain a few more pounds in the last 4 weeks.

dont worry... if your doctors haven't said anything you are fine..only a month to go..don't let it dampen your spirit...i am
ALMOST 5 foot 3 and 140 is my healthy weight, but I am considered "obese" by many doctors.. I might not fit the average but I am sure that I am healthy. When I am pregnant I gain about 40 pounds so I feel fat but my doctor says its normal as long as it is not a sudden gain or loss...Breastfeeding takes it all off anyway. Take care of yourself and the baby!! Be blessed...Don't stress...Oh, by the way every month you are supposed to gain about 4 pounds after the last trimester..

Thats not a bad weight gain. They usually recommend 25-35 lb's so you are right in there. You are actually doing quite well since most people gain much more than that. I gained over 50 with my last and started at 110

you've gained the normal 25-30 lbs. needed for a pregnancy... the doctors usually want you to gain that amount of weight, whether you're 5ft or 7 ft tall. That's the norm. How about telling your mother in law, that unless she KNOWS something you don't, then to stay quiet, and let the doctor tell YOU if you've gained too much. Good luck and best wishes!!

It sounds just about normal to me. I am about 5'1", normally about 108lbs., and right now i am 37 weeks pregnant weighing 128lbs. I wouldn't see anything wrong with your weight. Everybody gains weight differently, in different areas. And some babies are bigger than others. If there was anything wrong with your weight, the doctor would have mentioned it. So dont worry! Relax and be happy! Congrats and good luck!

30 lbs is perfectly normal and healthy. i gained 35 with one, 40 with another and 37 with the last. i lost all the weight. i probably lost 15 to 20 immediately . and lost the rest a few months later. if the doctor hasnt brought it up it isnt a problem. so dont worry and dont let any one tell you different.
