Any ideas on how to unclog a toilet? I dont have a plunger and don't want to go out and buy one. My friends used it and now the toilet wont flush and the water builds up and it takes 8 hours to go back down.

The only real way to unclog that toilet will be with a plunger. You can get one for about $5 (or borrow one from a neighbor). If the plunger doesn't work, the next step will be to use a 'snake' (a wire plumbing device). I'm guessing the plunger will do the trick though... good luck!

If you really don't want to go buy a plunger take a 2 liter bottle and wrap it in a towel. Put the open end toward the hole and get as good a seal with the towel as possible. Squeeze the air out of the bottle, forcing the air down the hole. This is basically what a plunger does except it forces water down the hole. Try it a few times, you probably have some toilet paper stuck in the piping. The problem is that you may not get enough force to dislodge the obstruction. The other choice is to bend a cloths hanger to get down the pipe and pull the obstruction out. I've done that, it gets nasty and its hit or miss. If that doesn't work you'll need to go and get a plunger or a snake.

You need a plunger or a snake. Maybe you can borrow one from a neighbor.
If you do borrow or buy a plunger, it will work better if you push it down slowly and pull up sharply, using the vacuum rather than the pressure to work the clog loose. One advantage to this is you might bring the clog back up into the toilet where it can be removed instead of jamming it even deeper and harder into the pipe. Especially important if it is clogged with something that will not break apart, such as a washcloth or sanitary napkin.

You really don't have a choice but to go out and buy a plunger. You are going to have to force the clog through the pipes. About the only other way would be to some how break up the clog with a snake of some similar device.

I know that plungers are not very expensive so do yourself a favor (and anyone that lives/visits with you) and go out and buy a plunger.

Borrowing from a neighbor will work, but what will you do next time?

You could also try swiping one from your parents house (that is what my daughter did).

Your going to need one of those plungers.

Second your going to need some draino out and let that sit for 1 hour and don't flush because draino unclogs piles soap scrub and than that might be trap in piles like hair straight down.

Get your garden hose and put on a pressure nozzle, Hold it as far down the toilet as you can and have someone outside turn it on full blast. That usually unclogs a drain or toilet. I did it last week and it worked great.

Try a plunger. Why not borrow one? If that doesn't do the trick try a toilet auger.
